eKommissar (“we”, “us”, or “our”) provides Shopify applications (“Apps”) to merchants who use Shopify to power their online stores. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and delete personal data when you install or use our Apps.

By installing or using our Apps, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Merchant Information

When you install or use an eKommissar App, we may access and store the following information from your Shopify store, only as required to provide the App’s functionality:

  • Store name and store URL

  • Store owner name and email address

  • Shopify store ID

  • App installation and usage data

  • Product, variant, inventory, collection, media, and metafield data

We do not collect payment information or credentials.

1.2 Customer Information

Our Apps are designed to operate primarily on store and product data, not end-customer personal data.

If customer data (such as customer IDs or order references) is accessed:

  • it is strictly limited to what is required for the App to function

  • it is not used for marketing or profiling

  • it is not sold, shared, or reused outside the App’s core functionality

2. How We Use Information

We use the collected data exclusively to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the App

  • Sync, manage, and update store content

  • Improve App reliability and performance

  • Provide customer support

  • Comply with legal and Shopify platform requirements

We do not use data for advertising, analytics resale, or third-party profiling.

3. Shopify App Store & API Compliance

3.1 Shopify API License Compliance

Our Apps access Shopify APIs strictly in accordance with the Shopify API License and Terms of Service.

3.2 Data Minimization

Our Apps:

  • request only the minimum API scopes required

  • access data only when necessary

  • do not access data unrelated to the App’s stated functionality

Requested permissions are clearly disclosed during app installation.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

4.1 Data Retention

We retain merchant data only for as long as the App is installed or as required to provide support or comply with legal obligations.

4.2 App Uninstallation

When you uninstall an eKommissar App:

  • All store-related data is deleted within 30 days

  • Temporary or cached data is removed automatically

  • No data is retained for future use

You may request immediate deletion by contacting us.

5. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect data against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure.

Access to data is restricted to authorized personnel only.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data.

Data is shared only:

  • with Shopify, as required for App functionality

  • if legally required by law or authority

7. GDPR & EEA Rights

For users located in the European Economic Area (EEA), we process data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

You have the right to:

  • Access your data

  • Request correction or deletion

  • Restrict or object to processing

  • Request data portability
